Hot Head by Thermal Hair Care

In the past 6 months, I have been slacking when it comes to deep conditioning my hair. The main reason being, it is extremely time consuming. Putting the treatment on is the easy part, but having a shower cap on hand, and retaining the heat can frankly be annoying. Especially if it requires my hooded dryer that I hate sitting under. Luckily for my hair’s sake, the Hot Head by Thermal Hair Care takes everything I hate about deep conditioning and turns it into a painless and productive experience.

Hot Head is a flax filled, microwavable, deep conditioning heat cap, that claims to give the user the freedom to achieve the results of a salon quality deep conditioning treatment at home. After heating the cap for 3 minutes or less, the seeds retain heat for at least 30 minutes, giving you the ability to move about freely, and achieve whatever is on your goal list for the day.

I received the Jeweled Hot Head ($29.95) that is a cool-toned ostrich print, as well as a 10-pack of Disposable Shower Caps ($3.25) that are needed to insulate heat as well as keep your product from getting the cap dirty. Trust me when I say you NEED the caps because flax seeds turn to gel when wet, so you do not want to ruin your hot head for future uses.

I didn’t have a deep conditioner on hand, so I went to walmart and picked up 2 Hi Pro Pac hair treatments for $1.50 each. I figured if the Hot Head could make these affordable treatments work, then it could do wonders with high end and salon quality treatments.

RESULTS

Using the hot head was extremely convenient. Instead of being limited to what you can do in a chair while sitting under a hooded dryer during heat treatments, the flax seeds in the bonnet that retain heat allowed me to move about freely for the 30 minutes I was wearing it. I was able to clean my room, and organize my bathroom without the cap losing heat.

I was cautious while heating it up in the microwave because I could not locate my microwave manual for the machine wattage, so I heated it up for less than the instructed time initially. I ended up reheating it once 20 minutes in and kept it on for another 20.

Although I have never used this specific hair treatment before, I did get better results than any other hair treatment I’ve done myself that I can recall. I used a protein treatment because I have been over-moisturizing my hair and have lost some curl definition in areas. After the 40 minutes, I did see that the curl had returned to most of the areas, and the rest of my hair had great curl definition and curl clumping. My pattern was even more uniform, which was especially great in the crown area of my head where I have the most frizz and less curl.

I would definitely recommend the hot head for anyone who is looking to have more freedom while the deep condition their hair at home. Not only do they have their standard size and a variety of fun prints, they also have an XL version for longer/thicker hair, and a mini version for children.
