Colourpop Just My Luck Palette

Whenever I see a monochromatic green palette, or even a green shadow, I immediately swoon over it because it is my favorite color. Initially when I first saw the Just My Luck Palette, I did resist because I already had the Smoke Sessions Palette that is somewhat similar.

I saw they were restocking, and changed my perspective quickly because the Colourpop palette had mattes that I felt should have been in the Melt palette. Since it was so affordable, I didn’t wait for it to go out of stock again and made sure to pick it up as a companion palette.

As soon as I received it, I realized it was the best investment, and possibly better than the Melt palette I purchased first. I immediately started playing with the palette to get a grasp on the formulas, and to see how many looks I could create.

Just My Luck Eyeshadow Palette ($12)

The 9-pan palette has a variety of greens, in matte and metallic textures. The palette itself is a hard plastic, and contains a large mirror which is especially convenient for travel.

The mattes in the palette are soft, but they’re not the most buttery textured I’ve ever felt. This can possibly be because greens are harder to formulate. Nonetheless, they blend out well and are not patchy like a lot of other green shades I’ve tried in the past.

From the website, the shades are described as the following:

  • Chances Are…: matte fresh mint

  • Kiss My Hass: matte spearmint

  • 50-50: metallic mossy green

  • Big Banks: metallic jade

  • Mary Jane: metallic chartreuse

  • Olive U: metallic olive green

  • Act Natural: matte emerald

  • Mo Bamba: matte forest green

  • Charmed: matte khaki oilve

Monochromatic Eyeshadow Look

I used 8 of the 9 shades to create the look below. Here'‘s how I used the shades:

I used a large fluffy brush to set my base, above my crease up to my brow bone, with Chances Are…

I applied Kiss My Hass to my crease and slightly above my hooded fold with my eye open;

I depended the crease with Act Natural;

I applied Mo Bamba to my outer v and dragged it out to the length of my eyebrow. I also applied this to the outer third of my lower lash line;

I deepened the outer third of my crease with Charmed, and slightly beneath my lash line for a smoother transition into my concealer. I also used it on an angled brush on the edge of my crease color to give it more of a cat eye shape;

I packed on Olive U on the front half of my lid, and on the inner third of my bottom lash line;

I used 50-50 as a transition between the shimmer and matte shades on my lid;

I finished by adding Mary Jane to my inner corner.
