Smith & Cult Hydragloss High-Pigment Lip Gel

I’ve been playing with Smith & Cult’s makeup collection quite a bit lately. I’ve posted 2 other blogs about their cream blush, and glitter products. Today I’m exploring their hydragloss.

The Hydragloss is described as an elastic gel formula, that packs a pigmented punch & delivers intense shine, that is long-lasting, moisturizing & bleed-proof. It is available in 12 shades, for $20.

I received the gloss in Soft Honey, which is almost an exact match to my skin tone. It swatched great, so I thought it would apply the same to my lips. Unfortunately, I did have a little trouble applying it. The gloss was settling into all of the lines on my lips, and had sort of like a woven linen appearance. I played with it for a while on its own, but eventually applied onto of a lipstick which gave a more even appearance.

I did notice a similar look in the images for this particular color on the models on the website, but the other colors do not appear to look the same, so it may be just Soft Honey. Besides the application, the formula is as they claim. It is not sticky, and it does not bleed. It’s a goldilocks gloss because it is not too thick and pigmented, nor is it too sheer.

Although a little tricky at first to figure out, I do like the color. I will continue using this as a topper on any look I want a flesh tone nude for. I also plan on trying other colors to find a gloss I can wear by itself during the summer when it is way too hot to wear lipsticks.
