Lunar Beauty Moon Spell Collection

Just in time for the Halloween season, Manny MUA paid homage to his favorite pop culture witches, in his new Lunar Beauty Moon Spell Collection.

In this collection, he gave us a purple, neutral, and green shade 15-pan palette, 2 liquid lipsticks, and 1 lip gloss to create your favorite spooky season looks. As soon as I saw the reveal video, I set my alarm on launch day to pick it up. Much to my surprise, I was sent the complete collection to review and play with.

Moon Spell Color Palette ($48)

I always gravitate toward purples in my eyeshadow looks, and green is my favorite color so I fell in love with this color story at first glance. The shades are described as the following:

  • PruePink/Purple reflect glitter

  • PiperBerry shimmer with pink undertone

  • PhoebePurple glitter shade with blue reflect

  • PaigeOrchid matte shade

  • SabrinaMatte purple

  • WinifredMedium brown matte with an orange undertone

  • SarahLight taupe with a soft pink undertone

  • MaryAntique gold with reflect glitter

  • SamanthaRose gold shimmer

  • KikiDeep warm brown matte

  • HermioneGold glitter topper with pink reflect

  • BonnieLime green matte

  • MarnieArmy green matte

  • NancyTeal matte

  • FionaDeep turquoise shimmer with black undertone

Many have said it is not what they’d expect in a witch themed palette, but I beg to differ. The mossy and lime matte greens remind me of potion smoke, while the purples are reminiscent of crystal balls. There’s enough diversity in this palette to create a themed witch look, but also an everyday wearable look throughout the Fall and Winter months.

Moon Spell Lip Bundle ($42)

Like his previous collection, there are 2 liquid lipsticks, and 1 lipgloss to pair with the palette. They can be purchased in the bundle, or separately if you aren’t a fan of every shade. In the bundle, you will get the following:

I already knew what to expect from the formulas from my last review, so I’m not going to be repetitive here. If you want to read more about the lip formulas and applicators, you can check out my Strawberry Dream Collection Review.

As far as what I thought about these specific lip products, I really loved the lip gloss. Unlike the last gloss release, this is more of a topper so the purple iridescent glitter can make any base color beneath it pop and sparkle without being uncomfortable to wear.

When it comes to liquid lipsticks, the darker the color is, it’s typically more messy and difficult to apply. I didn;t have this problem with either shade, and they were expectedly very easy to apply. I personally don’t usually go for black lipsticks, but it did fit the theme perfectly so I can see why it was added.

Eyeshadow Look

A quick scan of instagram posts, and you will see tons of spooky season themed looks. I am not super into Halloween, so I created an everyday wearable look with the green mattes.

I used Marnie and Bonnie to create a smoky moss green eye, and then used a pop of Hermione in the center and the inner corner. It’s a lot simpler than any of the other looks I’ve created, but this is closer to what I would actually wear in real life. If you’re in a colder climate than I am, this eye with a chunky neutral sweater would pair beautifully.

Final Thoughts

This is the 2nd full collection I’ve received from Lunar Beauty, and they did not disappoint. The packaging alone is to die for and definitely makeup collector worthy. I give it the highest possible praises and I’d definitely recommend it if you love greens and purples like I do.

You can of course buy the items separately, but I’d suggest getting the complete collection in the Moon Spell Collection Bundle ($80). You definitely won’t regret the investment!
