Yardley London Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Bath Bar

When it comes to bar soap vs. body wash, I am probably one of the few that prefers bar soap. Something about them makes me feel cleaner and more refreshed after showering. So it is of no surprise that I jumped at the chance to try Yardley London's newest activated charcoal moisturizing bath bar.

About Yardley London

For those of you who are not familiar with Yardley London, the brand was established in 1770 by Jonathan Yardley, who obtained a royal warrant for the provision of all soap in London. Since then they have been known as a purveyor of luxury fragrances and soaps that are sold all over the world. They specialize in crafting a variety of bath and body products using a variety of essential oils and moisturizing ingredients that help to soothe your skin and senses.

The Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Bath Bar

Since I have eczema and keratosis that require me to really get deep cleans to reduce my amount of flare ups and infected patches, the activated charcoal bar grabbed my attention. Made with bentonite clay, the product claims to leave your skin feeling clean, soft and moisturized. It also claims to revive and energize your skin by infusing spearmint essential oil into the formula.

My Experience

I am very picky when it comes to my bar soaps. My sensitive skin is easily irritated by overdrying and highly fragrant infused formulas, and bars that leave filmy residue on your skin after usage. I did not experience that when using this bar. My skin felt clean yet hydrated, and there was no residue left on my skin. The light and fruity spearmint scent was also very calming. It wasn't too harsh for my skin, and didn't irritate any of my eczema inflamed patches, which fragrances often do.

Since charcoal draws out impurities, my usually bumpy skin due to keratosis felt much smoother after I showered. because of this, I believe my lotion was able to penetrate deeper into my skin, and left me with more moisture retention in my skin. I also believe that the charcoal helped with my eczema because any itchiness I felt before showering, was calmed during and afterwards.

Final Thoughts

If you like bar soaps, or are interested in switching to one, I'd definitely recommend trying out Yardley London. Even if you're not a fan of bars, the company has such a rich history in crafting skin products that spans over 200 years, there is definitely a bath or body product that suits your needs.
