La Roche-Posay Effaclar Collection

I have very finnicky sensitive skin, and whenever my eczema flares up or my body is dry, my face breaks out.

For those times having products that cater specifically to my acne are of the utmost importance, so when I received the opportunity to try the La Roche-Posay Effaclar collection, I accepted without hesitation.

I received 3 products from the collection, including their Acne Spot treatment, their magnifying moisturizer, and their facial wipes. I had mixed results from the 3 products, so here are my thoughts.

Effaclar Duo Acne Spot Treatment (20 ML $19.99/40 ML $36.95)
This product claims to reduces the number and severity of acne blemishes, helps clear blackheads and whiteheads, and provide fast, visible results in 3 days.

I received the 20 ml acne spot treatment, but like many other over the counter products it was relatively ineffective. It did reduce painful irritation, but the actual acne went away in the same amount of time it would had I not used a treatment. This may not necessarily be the product’s fault, because during the time I have eczema flare ups, the only thing that works on my acne is prescription strength Retin-A micro

Effaclar Mat Mattifying Moisturizer (40 ML $31.99)

The website claims that thus moisturizer for oily skin targets excess oil, and has a dual action performance of magnifying the skin and refining pores.

At first, I wasn’t a huge fan because I felt it was drying my skin out under my matte foundations. However, I have shifted to more dewy and natural makeup, so this is the perfect moisturizer to keep my oily skin matte throughout the day. Typically by 2 pm, I have a greasy appearance but this moisturizer added at least 3 more hours of oil-free wear to my makeup looks.

Effaclar Facial Wipes for Oily Skin (25 Count $9.99)

These facial wipes are supposed to cleanse away oil and pore clogging impurities, and that is exactly what they do. This was by far my favorite product because of how effective they were.

They remove makeup with ease. I usually use several cotton pads with micellar water and waste a ton of product. These towelettes did the same job as my micellar water, but more effectively because I only had to use one wipe. Even with a full face of full coverage foundation, concealer, powder, and everything else under the sun my makeup was removed easily and without product transfer from the wipe to my face. My skin was left feeling completely clean, without feeling dried out.

I truly love these wipes and feel they are the best makeup removing wipes on the market currently.

Final Thoughts

I think this is an effective product line for those who have mild breakouts. The spot treatment could work for those who get a few blemishes a month, but not necessarily if you have severe breakouts.

The moisturizer and wipes are perfect for anyone who wears makeup, and not just those with acne prone skin. I’d definitely keep the moisturizer in my routine if you find you have oily skin that interferes with matte makeup looks, and the wipes are great for literally everyone.

If you want to test these products out yourself you can find them at Walmart, Target, Kohls, or order directly from the La Roche-Posay website today.
