Feminine hygiene is often considered a taboo, and when it comes to menstruation - forget about it. Women have been conditioned to be silent about their body’s natural biological functions for ages, and it has only made it harder for us to get recommendations for products that can make our periods more comfortable.

One of those things that is painful to discuss is the odor that comes with our period. Although it comes with the territory, it can still be embarrassing. Especially if you’re a pad user. No Rinse Cleansing Foam ($8.50)

Since I recently made the switch from tampons to pads, this is the product I was most eager to test out. I have noticed that I have an increase in odor, and it is more difficult to maintain freshness in that region. I find myself taking multiple showers a day while at home, and crossing my legs quite often if I am out of the house.

This wash is specifically formulated to be used without water, by adding a few pumps to your toilet paper. The formula is quite moisturizing and does not contain dyes, alcohol and parabens. Since it is formulated to match our pH levels, it is not overly fragrant, and neutralizes any odors allowing me to feel more confident in my choice to give up tampons.

The one drawback is the size. It is a 5 fl. oz. bottle, and not available in travel sizes, so it can be a little cumbersome if you plan on taking it with you to work, or out and about during your period. It is better suited to stay in your bathroom at home.

Flushable Cleansing Cloths ($9.99 - 24 pack | $8.49 - 14 indiv. packets)

If you are often out of the house, and need something to maintain your freshness throughout the day, then the cleansing cloths are definitely better suited for you. These gentle flushable wipes are formulated with the same patented odor-reducing ingredient as the foam, and are also dye, alcohol, and paraben free.

They are available in a 24 pack that can stay on your bathroom counter, or they come in 14 individually wrapped packets, making it easy to slip one in your pocket, gym bag, clutch, or hand when you have to freshen up but maintain discretion.

Final Thoughts

I regularly receive products to review, but these are ones that will stay in my product regime permanently. I felt more confident during my period and wasn’t paranoid about any unwanted scents being caught in the air. They are the perfect addition to a pad users feminine care routine, and would work just as well if you prefer a tampon or even a diva cup.
