Tara Formula Restore Deep Hair Mask
I’ve been adding a lot of protein to my hair with rice water rinses, so the moisture levels in my hair occasionally need a boost. When I notice my hair is looking a little frizzier than I’d like, I rely on bi-weekly hair treatments to tame my curls.
I was sent the Tara Formula Restore: Deep Hair Mask ($49) to test out for this specific issue. This deep conditioning treatment contains multiple restorative ingredients, including shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and mango seed butter for optimal hydration.
I’ve used this deep conditioner twice in the last month, and it does provide the results it claims. The formula has great slip so it melts tangles away. It also works great at taming frizz caused by dehydration.
The only issue I had, which is completely my fault, is that I waited until the sun was down to apply it. I wanted to capture the images after rinsing it out in natural light, but because I missed the daylight window I left it in overnight.
Because I left it in overnight, I did have some curl loss from over hydrating my hair. You can see in the image above, some of my ends in the front don’t have a defined curl structure. This can be repaired by adding protein, but they were apart of my bangs area so I just cut those stringy pieces off. Going forward I will not leave it in overnight, and will rinse out after the suggested 20 minutes. I’d recommend that anyone who tries this treatment follow the instructions as well.
Final Thoughts
All in all, this is a great hair mask for anyone who is suffering from dry/frizzy hair, or for those who do protein hair treatments regularly. I plan on keeping this in my hair care routine, and will use it every 2 weeks in-between my protein treatments.
