Tara Care System Nurture Collection

Since starting my rice water rinses, I have restored much of hairs structure and volume, but I’ve also changed my porosity. I’ve been noticing my hair has been less moisturized from all the protein I’m adding to it weekly.

I came across Tara Formula one day and was intrigued by their product descriptions, that gave me the impression that they’d add the nourishment I was missing, so I decided to reach out. They were generous enough to send me their full collection of products, so I immediately tore the box open to test them out.

The first collection that I went for was the nurture products I first came across on instagram. This collection infuses various fruit extracts for a healthy, hydrated, and holistic hair treatment. Here’s how my last wash day went.

Tara Care System Nurture: Sulfate-Free Shampoo ($39)

The Nurture shampoo is described as a gentle blend of natural cleansing essentials to soothe and strengthen sensitive scalps, to gently cleanse without stripping away nutrients vital to your hair’s health. The main ingredients include:

  • Acai fruit extract to deliver ample nourishment and thoroughly revitalize the hair and scalp;

  • Raspberry fruit extract rich in biotin, vitamin c, and folic acid to add shine and volume;

  • Strawberry fruit extract that promotes healthy hair follicles and help stimulate hair growth.

I can always tell if all products in a collection are good based on the shampoo. It is not a cream cleanser which is my normal preference, but when I have a lot of sebum or sweat build up on my scalp from exercise or the humidity, I do look for shampoos that lather up without acting too much like a detergent. The Nurture sulfate-free formula was able to remove product buildup from my hair without stripping it dry. It also has slight detangling properties, and didn’t add any additional tangles to the roots of my hair like I normally get while shampooing. I still had hydrated curls once I rinsed it away.

Tara Care System Nurture: Everyday Conditioner ($39)

Step 2 in the process was the Everyday conditioner. Tara describes this product as a gentle blend of nourishing essentials to soothe and strengthen sensitive hair, while locking in nutrients vital to maintaining healthy hair.

This formula contains:

  • Apple stem extract to stimulate dormant hair follicles to promote consistent hair growth for fuller hair;

  • Grapeseed oil to leave hair looking smooth, nourished, and lustrous without creating an oily build-up;

  • Shea Butter that is rich in hyaluronic acid, vitamin a, vitamin e, vitamin f, and essential fatty acids to restore and hydrate your hair, scalp, and follicles.

I was blown away by this conditioner. My hair has a habit of constantly tangling, even with conditioner in my hair and while i’m finger or comb detangling. As soon as it touched my strands, it immediately melted away any tangles i had without me having to put in any effort at all.

It is pillowy soft, and emollient so your strands feel beyond soft while it is in your hair, and even after rinsing it out. Below are pictures of how my hair looked completely product free out of the shower.

It has amazing curl definition, and curl clumping capabilities. There is only one drawback, and that is it a little difficult to squeeze out. It would be better in a jar vs. a squeeze bottle however, that issue can be quickly solved by sitting the product on the cap side for it to come out quicker.

Tara Care System Nurture: Leave In ($36)

The third step was the Nurture Leave In conditioner. It is described as a lightweight crème that combats frizz and split ends, for shinier, softer, and healthier lustrous hair.

The main ingredients include:

  • Soybean seen extract that is rich in protein, calcium, potassium and vitamin B to reduce flaking and itching;

  • Olive Oil that is rich in vitamin e that has antibacterial properties while also locking moisture into the strands;

  • Grapeseed oil to smooth, and nourish the hair.

Like the conditioner, the leave in has great slip for easy detangling. It is easy to work through the hair without having too use an excessive amount of product.

I actually used this product twice before this review. I mistakenly deleted all of the images from my first wash day using the collection, but I let it completely air dry to see if it was strong enough to be used for a 1 product wash and go.

After distributing the product throughout my hair, you can see in the pictures above where my hair is still wet, that I did lose some of my curl clumps that I had previously from the cleansing conditioner application. I wasn’t able to let it fully dry alone for this review due to other styling products I need to review, but my spirals were clearly visible but there wasn’t any hold to use just this product alone for type 4 curls.

I was able to get my clumps back and achieve my desired style once I moved through my regular styling process. I would imagine that someone with a type 2 wavy curl, or even 3a/3b curl may be able to use this product on its own, and have great definition and moisture throughout the day.

Final Thoughts

The nurture collection is one of the most hydrating shampoo and conditioner collections I’ve ever used. If you suffer from dry, frizzy and brittle hair, it will definitely help restore the health to your strands. I am currently testing out their Onion collection, but plan on going right back to Nurture as soon as possible.
