R & Co Turntable Curl Creme

If you’ve read some of previous blogs, or follow my social media account, you’d know that I love R+Co products. I was recently contacted to participate in a social media campaign, and allowed to order a few products to try out. I quickly added my usual High Dive Moisture + Shine Crème to my cart; a free trial size High Dive to keep in my purse for when I get frizzies on the go; and also their newest addition to their products for curl care, Turntable.

The very lightweight, Turntable curl-defining crème ($29) was designed to nourish and shape curls without weighing down wavy and curly hair or making curls crunch. The product claims to block humidity, and add moisture with noticeable shine.

Like all R+Co products, the formula is both vegan and cruelty-free. It’s main ingredients include:

  • Rice protein to lock in moisture, help prevent breakage, and improves flexibility of hair;

  • Flax Seed Extract to add moisture, strengthen, and improve elasticity of hair;

  • Chia Seed Extract to condition, add shine, and nourish hair and scalp;

  • Coconut Oil to promote an optimal scalp environmen, and penetrate the hair shaft for ultimate moisture.

It also has a beautiful fragrance from Sicilian lemon, tangerine, eucalyptus, green tea, tree moss, and crisp amber.

Two Product Wash and Go

I actually used the curl defining crème 3 times before I figured out the perfect combination to achieve my desired look. My normal R+Co wash & Go includes 4 products including their curl primer, moisture crème, gel, and oil. The first time I tried, I thought I should just add the curl defining crème into the process before the gel, but for some reason I was getting frizzier results than I normally do. My shape was also drying unevenly.

The 2nd time I tried, I actually ran out of the curl primer and tried all of the other products together. It still didn’t work out. By the 3rd time, I decided to just use the moisture + shine crème and the curl defining crème, and a little oil to seal the products into my strands. That turned out to be the magical combination my hair needed.

My curls were defined, bouncy, and had just enough hold without a hard gel cast. I was able to get 3 days wear out of this style without gel, which is just one day less time that I usually get out of my other R+Co routine. It also dried relatively quickly so going forward, I will use this 2 product regime if I am styling my hair right before I need to go somewhere and don’t have time to use 4 or 5 different products.

Final Thoughts

As expected, this curl crème lived up to my expectations. Now that I’ve figured out the perfect combination, I will be using it every other week. I will most likely use it exclusively in the fall/winter when there is less humidity, since it works best on my hair without gel.

If you want to order the Turntable Curl Defining Crème, it is now available on R+Co Online.
