It took me a few years to recover from major color damage, but recently I wanted to get back to really taking care of my delicate 4A curls. I came across Naturall Club on a youtube channel, and was immediately intrigued by their newest Flaxseed Styling Collection.

The hand-made styling collection is made with yogurt powder and combines the nutrients, strength, and moisture of pure flaxseed gel for ultimate shine and hold. The formula is cruelty free and is free of sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, salt, petrolatum, mineral oil, drying alcohols, and artificial color. It is made up of 3 products that I was able to test out, and was beyond pleased by the results.

Styling Flaxseed Gel Curl Custard with Yogurt ($23)

This formula is a rich, lightweight leave-in styler formulated for kinky, curly, and coily hair textures. This non-sticky formula helps to soften hair, and gives a medium hold that is great for daily application.

Normally I shy away from flaxseed custards because they are often runny, and give me a strong yet greasy hold that tends to run. I did not hav any issues with this one due to it being mixed with yogurt. The addition of the yogurt made it far more moisturizing than your typical flaxseed styling product.

Flaxseed Gel Edge Control with Yogurt - 24-Hour Extreme Hold ($19)

This product claims to deliver an impressive hold, healthy shine, and tames frizzy hair. It is available in 2 formulas for you to choose from, All Day or 24-Hour Extreme Hold. Since I am in hot and humid weather year round, I opted for the 24-hour formula.

I have had a terrible history with edge control products. I have tried many, and usually by the end of the day they begin to melt and slide down my forehead. Especially if I’m sitting in traffic in the Florida heat. That was not a problem with this one. It stayed in place as it claimed, and didn’t have a greasy appearance. I can not speak to the 24-hour claims because I did wash it out, but I left it in for a solid 16 hours without a problem, and could have probably gone much longer.

Curl Defining Flaxseed Gel with Yogurt - Extreme Hold ($23)

This gel claims to keep hair healthy while delivering amazing hold. This non-sticky formula leaves hair soft, crunch-free, and allows for flawless wash n go’s, twists, and braid out styles. It is also available in 2 different formulas, flexible and extreme hold. Again because of the extreme weather conditions, I chose the extreme hold gel.

I really loved how versatile the gel was. Typically a curl defining gel is only good on my hair when my hair is loose. This one however was easy to use when I put my hair in a bun. It has extreme hold, but is easy to work with when you apply to your hair. I didn’t have an issue with fly aways or it getting too hard and flaky. It also naturally softened as the days went on, so it didn’t add any additional dryness to my already delicate strands.
