The Organic Skin Co.
As a makeup junkie, I use so many products that I love to create looks with, but I don’t always love the ingredients list (and neither does my skin). When I received an email from The Organic Skin Co. that challenged me to replace some of my usual products with items from their natural product line, my interest was definitely peaked.
Founded in New Zealand, the Organic Skin Co. is a 100% Natural, cruelty free, and vegan product line that consists of skincare and cosmetics. They are committed to creating ethical and organic skincare and makeup, with colors that pop, and shades that last. The best part of this brand, is their commitment to the environment with their One Product, One Tree initiative. For every product purchased from the line, the Organic Skin Co. will plant one tree to combat deforestation across the globe.
Supercritical Extracts
The Organic Skin Co. is using breakthrough technologies to extract the naturally derived ingredients that are infused in their products. Supercritical extraction doesn’t rely on chemical solvents to extract a plant’s nutrients. Instead, it uses CO2 that we exhale which is also absorbed by plants.
The end result is highly concentrated extracts that are upwards of 50 times more potent than typical extracts, and of course better for your skin.
I was generously sent a 4 pod palette, 4 cream pods of my choice. The creams are 100% natural and feature a variety of organic and vegan friendly ingredients derived from rosemary, pomegranate, calendula, castor oil, and sunflower seed oil and more.
The products I received were:
The Stone Palette ($77.50 with 4 pods of your choice included)
The Hide and Seek Concealer Pod in Sculpt ($21.00)
23.3% Organic Ingredients
In The Spotlight Luminizer Pod in Rose Gold ($21.00)
73.8% Organic Ingredients
Cheeky Lips Pod in Petal Power ($21.00)
74% Organic Ingredients
The Eyes Have It Pod in Greenstone ($21.00)
28% Organic Ingredients
I also received a full size In the Spotlight Rose Gold Luminizer ($37.00) which was an unexpected and welcomed surprise. I then challenged myself to use the creams in as many areas of my face as possible. Here’s the look I came up with.
The In the Spotlight rose gold luminizer is very dynamic. If you spread out a sheer layer evenly all over your face, it is a great base for your foundation that will give it a more dewy and radiant appearance. If you apply it more concentrated with a finger tip or brush to the high points of your face, it can be worn as a very natural highlighter. It is also great as a topper to add a hint of shine to your lips.
The Hide and Seek sculpt concealer is great to contour with. It is not too warm or too cool, so when blended out it adds definition below your cheekbones that isn’t overbearing or too obvious. I also used it in my crease to add some definition above the greenstone cream shadow, as well as along my bottom lash line.
The petal power Cheeky Lip pod is great to use as both a blush and lip color, and is the perfect coral shade for spring if you want to create subtle monochromatic looks.
With this one palette, I was able to replace 8 makeup products that I use on a daily basis, and avoid the harsh chemicals that often break out my very sensitive eczema and acne prone skin. The radiant appearance from these creams helped to minimize the look of my pores, smooth the texture of my skin, and evened out discoloration. I had a very natural no-makeup, makeup look that is perfect for everyday wear, and can be worn without foundation and have the same results.
