Not unlike any other woman in the world, I have always had a hard time finding the perfect foundation for my skin tone. Too light, too dark, too red, too yellow, etc. etc. The list goes on!

When I received a sample of the Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation, I was both excited and amazed, so I immediately went to Sephora to purchase the only foundation I will need forever.

The argan based formula is available in 3 shades. I picked up the Medium/Dark tone. When you begin, it goes on white and almost water like. As you buff it on with a foundation brush, the color self adjusts to match your skin tone perfectly. All of your unwanted imperfections are hidden, but your highlighting individualities, like freckles and beauty marks, are still there. The argan oil also helps to hydrate your skin, and improve its’ appearance without any pore-clogging build up. The true you shines through as you can see above. My face, neck and chest are the same shade, which almost never happens with any other foundation I use.

Although I love it’s color matching abilities, there were a few issues I noticed.

First, I am a full coverage kind of girl and this is definitely a light to medium coverage foundation. It is awesome for daytime, but I’m definitely going to have to continue my search for a heavier foundation for professional appearances, and nights out.

Second, I always use the Mac 187 Duo Fibre Brush for my foundation. Because this formula contains argan oil, the brush was too soft to apply the foundation evenly. I had to use a stiffer flat topped brush to get rid of the streakes.

Third, although the packaging states for medium/dark complexions, it doesn’t work on women who have browner skin tones. I tested it on a colleague who has a similar complexion to Gabrielle Union, and although it darkened some, it was too light and left a grayish appearance on her skin.

All in all, my cons are not a deterrent in the least bit. I still love it for myself, but I would recommend thoroughly testing it before purchase to make sure it will match your complexion perfectly.
