Clink Cosmetics

I’m always on the look out for new black owned brands to try out, so it was an automatic yes when I was contacted to test out Clink Cosmetics.

I was gifted a few different items from their collection, that definitely surpassed my expectations. Here’s what I think about the collection so far.

Happy Hour Eye Shadow Palette ($16)

The item I immediately gravitated to first, is of course the eyeshadow palette. It is a 9-pan shadow palette with 7 mattes, and 2 shimmers in mostly neutral and purple tones, and a pop of orange. All of the shades are names after wines, spirits and cocktails to go with the happy hour theme.

The mattes swatch beautifully. I immediately thought to compare them to my Juvia’s Place shadows, and Clink’s are actually creamier and easier to blend than Juvia’s. The colors don’t get muddy, and you can layer them without losing the tone of the shadow you’re applying on top. They are extremely pigmented, and do not get patchy on the eye. I don’t have any criticism for the the shadows, but with I had one more shimmer to play with because I loved how metallic and glittery they are.

Mamacita Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick ($20)

I received one liquid lipstick in a bright blood orange shade, that is perfect for the summer. Velvet matte is my favorite liquid lipstick formula, because it glides on smoothly and doesn’t dry down to make your lips look dehydrated.

This one was pretty consistent with other formulas I’ve tried with other brands. It was easy to apply, and didn’t dry down too quickly giving you enough time to perfect your line. One coat is really all you need, but you can layer without it lifting or getting patchy.

Fur/Faux Mink Lashes

I received 2 pairs of false lashes to try. I received Tease Faux Fur Mink Lashes ($8) and POParazzi Faux Fur Mink Lashes ($5). I have to be 100% honest and say that lashes are very new to me. I have a few pairs that I’ve played with in the past, but I have difficulty applying on my eye shape and have very sensitive eyes that are prone to infections from glues. I often have trouble getting them to stay glued down , because it is difficult to navigate around my already long lashes.

I am definitely not an expert by any means, but I can say that when I tried the POParazzi style, I had a very easy time applying them which is very rare for me. I did have to trim them down a little bit so they weren’t too far into my inner corner, but I was able to apply and blend them with my natural lashes without applying any eyeliner.

Purple Shadow Look

I created a glam purple eye look using 8 0f the 9 shadows. Unfortunately I did not have a diffuser on my light, so it did blow out some of the colors, but here is what I did step-by-step even if you can’t see the color:

I started by creating a round shape slightly above my crease, and around to the outer third of my lid and lower lash line using Jack Was There Too;

I blended the edges out up to right below my eyebrow using Orange Crushin’;

I softened the orange using Rum Chata, and took that up to my brow;

I cut my crease, and then applied Purple Rain on my lid;

I added Rose BayBay to the very center of my lid, and my inner corner;

I used Kahlua Latte to blend purple rain in to Jack Was there too for a softer transition;

I applied Mucho Merlot closest to my lower lash line on the center and inner third;

I blended Mucho Merlot out with Hennything Is Possible for a soft smokey look.

For details on the other products I used to complete my face, check them out in my Instagram Post Here but I completed my look using the POParazzi last style, and the Mamacita liquid lipstick with a gloss on top.
